Detroit Public School FLICS Culture Blast - Chinese Culture Day

Video Script: (by Alexia Xu)

Alexia Xu: Welcome to Dragon Eagle TV. My name is Alexia Xu. I’m currently reporting in downtown Detroit at the Foreign Language Immersion and Cultural Studies School, where they’re hosting their culture blast and China Day event.

Zetia Hogan: This is our annual culture blast event that we have here at Flics. This week we recognize Japanese, Chinese, French, and Spanish. And today is the culminating activity that we have here in our community on the last day of culture blast.

Alexia Xu: Part of the culture blast is the China Day event, where the students can experience Chinese culture. The students were able to buy traditional Chinese jade jewelry and tanghulu, a Chinese dessert. They were able to play as Chinese dragons in the gym as well. The school also had showcases of Chinese art.

Artist: I drew all these zodiacs when I was seven and right now I’m working on these Chinese watercolor arts.

Alexia Xu: They also had Chinese musicians showcase Chinese music. So what instrument do you guys play?

Musician 1: I play the Gu Zhen.

Musician 2: Er hu.

Zetia Hogan: I would like to thank Dragon Eagle TV. They’ve been here throughout our events. Through the book donation, on our actual Chinese day, and they were here today, so I would like to thank Dragon eagle TV for being present, and we are gonna continue our partnership with them as we move forward into next school year.

Students: (in Chinese) I love Chinese! I love China!

Zetia Hogan:
